Wayne Central School District Announces New Assistant Principal at Thomas C. Armstrong Middle School

Wayne Central School District is pleased to announce the appointment of William Heinsler as Assistant Principal of Thomas C. Armstrong Middle School.
Heinsler has served the Thomas C. Armstrong Middle School community throughout the 2025-26 school year as Interim Assistant Principal, providing leadership in support of students, staff, and families. In this role, he has coordinated New York State and NAEP testing, organized CARE field trips and assemblies, collaborated with fellow administrators on building operations, and worked closely with students and families to promote positive behavior, accountability, and a culture of high expectations.
He brings more than a decade of educational experience within the Wayne Central School District to his new role. Since joining the district in 2014 as a mathematics teacher and mathematics intervention specialist, Heinsler has served as Mathematics Instructional Leader for grades 5–8, led professional learning focused on innovative instructional practices, developed intervention strategies to support student achievement, and helped pilot new technologies to strengthen mathematics instruction.
Dedicated to creating meaningful opportunities for students beyond the classroom, Heinsler has advised the Academic Challenge Bowl and Computer Science Club, co-advised the Chess Club and both the seventh- and eighth-grade classes, and served on the STAGR and Building Planning teams.
Heinsler earned both his bachelor's degree and master's degree in Mathematics/Science/Technology Education from St. John Fisher College. He also completed his School Building Leader and School District Leader certification programs through the University of Rochester's Warner School of Education. His commitment to educational excellence was recognized through his selection as a New York State Master Teacher.
