Wayne Central Hosts 8th Annual NYSSMA Solo Festival

Wayne Central School District proudly hosted its 8th annual New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Solo Festival on May 15 and 16, welcoming nearly 1,000 student musicians from 31 school districts across the region.
Wayne Central was represented by approximately 180 student performers who participated in the prestigious annual event, which is organized by NYSSMA and designed to support and celebrate student achievement in music education.
The NYSSMA Solo Festival is an annual spring evaluation in which students perform a prepared solo, scales (for instrumentalists), and a sight-reading excerpt before an impartial adjudicator. Participants receive a graded evaluation along with individualized feedback intended to encourage continued musical growth and development.
Beyond recognizing student preparation and musicianship, the festival also serves as an important pathway for selection into distinguished regional and state ensembles, including All-County, Area All-State, and the elite NYSSMA All-State performing groups.
Wayne Central is proud to provide students with the opportunity to showcase their talents, receive professional feedback, and participate in an event that promotes excellence in music education across New York State.
