Wayne Central School District Honors Joseph Schoene with 2026 Superintendent Award

Wayne Central School District is proud to announce that Joseph Schoene has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 Superintendent Award, recognizing his outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to service both in and out of the classroom.
The Superintendent Award is presented annually to a select group of students across the Wayne-Finger Lakes region who exemplify exceptional leadership qualities. Recipients are chosen based on strong academic performance, a minimum GPA of 80, and the consistent demonstration of character traits such as honesty, compassion, perseverance, responsibility, kindness, resiliency, and industriousness. These students are recognized for placing others' needs before their own and serving as role models within their schools and communities.
Joseph embodies these values through his involvement at Wayne Central. He serves as a class officer and participates in band and the football team, and previously was a member of the Environmental Club, demonstrating leadership and teamwork across multiple areas of student life.
Beyond school, Joseph has made a meaningful impact through his commitment to community service. As a member of the National Youth Advisory Council, he traveled to Ghana to participate in humanitarian efforts, including building beds and distributing essential supplies such as rice, salt, clothing, and soccer balls to local communities. Although he is no longer physically in Ghana, Joseph continues his humanitarian work through his website, www.buildhopeghana.com, to raise awareness and support his ongoing efforts. Closer to home, Joseph is an active parishioner at Holy Trinity Church, where he serves as an usher, altar server, and religious educator. Joseph also contributes to his community through his employment at Maplewood Nursing Home
In addition to receiving the Superintendent Award, Joseph has also been selected as a recipient of the Wayne-Finger Lakes Leadership Institute Scholarship, further recognizing his exceptional leadership and dedication.
The Wayne Central School District extends its sincere congratulations to Joseph on this well-deserved recognition and commends him for his exemplary leadership, character, and commitment to excellence.
