(Ontario, NY - September 22, 2025)– The Thomas C. Armstrong Middle School National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) has been recognized as one of just 58 chapters nationwide to earn a 2024–2025 NJHS Chapter Pillar Award of Excellence. The school’s chapter received the award in the category of Service for its outstanding record of leadership, volunteerism, and commitment to improving both the school and the community.
Over the past year, the 45-member chapter dedicated more than 2,000 hours of volunteer service. Students organized three major supply drives, collecting 125 toys for the Pirate Toy Fund, 300 food items for a local pantry during their “Souper Bowl” event, and 45 pet items for Brindle Posse Rescue. Members also served as peer tutors, student ambassadors for orientations and open houses, and volunteers at community events such as Solofest and local holiday celebrations.
“The NJHS Chapter Pillar Awards celebrate chapters that truly embody what the National Junior Honor Society stands for—students who don’t just excel academically but actively strengthen their communities,” said NASSP CEO Ronn Nozoe. “The Thomas C. Armstrong Middle School chapter demonstrates how powerful it can be when young leaders channel their talents toward meaningful service and positive change.”
A special thank you goes to the student leaders whose hard work and dedication guided this year’s success: Sydney, Sophia, Gianna, Jada, Corey, and Aaleen.
The NJHS Chapter Pillar Awards are presented by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) to honor exceptional NJHS chapters across the country. Chapters must demonstrate activities that uphold NJHS’s core values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
