About Us

Strong Schools, Vibrant Community, Bright Futures

Nestled in the scenic communities of northwestern Wayne and northeastern Monroe counties, the Wayne Central School District is home to nearly 18,500 residents. Our district blends rural charm and suburban convenience, offering a rich mix of residential neighborhoods, local businesses, and cultural resources. Residents are employed across a diverse range of industries, including high-tech optics, alternative energy, manufacturing, and large-scale operations such as the Ginna Nuclear Power Station and Dolomite Corporation.

Since its formation in 1949 through the centralization of 21 rural and union-free schools, the district has grown to serve most of the Towns of Ontario and Walworth, as well as portions of Williamson, Macedon, Webster, and Penfield. Lake Ontario forms the district’s northern border, and we share borders with Webster, Penfield, Gananda, Palmyra-Macedon, Marion, and Williamson school districts.

Our community values education and engagement. Extensive parental involvement is evident through active booster clubs, parent groups, school-based decision-making teams, and dedicated volunteers. Residents also enjoy abundant recreational opportunities, including town programs, park facilities, and public libraries in Walworth and Ontario. Local history and culture are celebrated at the Walworth Historical Society Museum and the Ontario Heritage Square, connecting our students to the region’s traditions.
